IL tuo gatto scappa di casa? Ecco cosa devi fare e cosa devi sapere
Alcuni credono che se un gatto scappa da casa saprà ritrovare la strada per tornare. Si tratta di una credenza sbagliata e pericolosa. Non esiste nessuno studio scientifico che dimostri la capacità innata dei felini di trovare la via di casa, per cui molti gatti domestici che scappano spesso si perdono.
In questo articolo vi spiegheremo come evitare che questo succeda.
Perché i gatti scappano
Per capire perché i gatti si allontanano da casa, bisogna ricordare che per i mici la strada può essere ricca di divertimento: possibili prede, gatte in calore, nuovi stimoli (suoni e odori). Molto spesso è per questo che i gatti si allontanano da casa, per sfogare il loro istinto.
Il micio tornerà?
Possiamo dire che i gatti sanno tornare a casa se sono abituati sin da piccoli a entrare e uscire liberamente di casa, restando sempre nelle vicinanze. Tuttavia, anche in questi casi, è bene prendere alcune misure preventive come mettergli il microchip e premiarlo quando torna a casa. Se il tuo gatto non torna a casa dopo poche ore non farti prendere dal panico. Se non torna dopo più di 18/24 ore, invece, dovrai agire, perché potrebbe essersi perso.
Esistono alcuni trucchi per trovare un gatto smarrito. Uno tradizionale è preparare dei volantini con la foto del gatto, una piccola descrizione dell’animale e i tuoi contatti. Distribuisci i volantini nei negozi o fuori dagli stessi, ma fai attenzione ai pali della luce o della fermata degli autobus: potrebbero multarti per affissione abusiva. Sarà importantissimo condividere il volantino sui social network o nei gruppi di Whatsapp. Infine, non dimenticare di chiamare i rifugi per animali perché qualcuno potrebbe aver portato lì il micio.
Come evitare che il gatto scappi
Se il tuo micio tende a fuggire, ecco alcuni consigli per evitare che tale situazione si ripeta:
- Crea un ambiente positivo: i gatti amano tornare nei luoghi in cui si sentono a loro agio, dove possono stare tranquilli, divertirsi e sfogare i propri istinti.
- Dagli affetto: senza affetto la vita di un gatto sarà incompleta. Ricorda di giocare quotidianamente con il micio e passare del tempo con lui.
- Cure mediche: dovrai portare il gatto dal veterinario ogni 6 mesi, rispettare il calendario delle vaccinazioni e la regolare sverminazione.
- Sterilizzazione/castrazione: mediante questo processo, oltre a evitare che il tuo gatto sviluppi alcune malattie, si attenuano i comportamenti che hanno a che fare con il desiderio sessuale, e quindi anche con le fughe. Prima di decidere di sterilizzare o castrare il gatto, però, consulta il veterinario.
- Premi al ritorno: se il gatto è abituato a uscire di casa ti consigliamo di dagli un premio goloso, fargli i complimenti e giocare con lui quando torna.
