Perché il cane scondinzola?
Come nel caso delle fusa del gatto, anche lo scondinzolare del cane è tipicamente associato alle interazioni positive con il padrone o con altre persone.
In effetti, in molti casi il cane agita freneticamente la coda per manifestare contentezza: ad esempio quando “fa le feste” a una persona, avvicinandosi con comportamenti giocosi.
Questo segnale, però, può essere associato anche a stati d’animo meno positivi: addirittura situazioni di nervosismo. Uno studio italiano condotto su 30 razze di cani ha osservato che gli animali tendevano a scodinzolare verso destra quando erano contenti, verso sinistra nei momenti di tensione.
Quando un cane che non conosciamo agita la coda, quindi, è sempre bene valutare la situazione e gli altri suoi comportamenti, prima di provare a toccarlo o comunque ad avvicinarsi. In particolare, possiamo osservare se ci viene incontro manifestando il desiderio di giocare, o mantiene le distanze apparendo guardingo. Nelle situazioni di tensione, inoltre, lo scodinzolare può essere alternato alla classica postura con la coda tesa all’indietro.
